A blue moon is the term for the "extra" full moon
in a particular time frame or lunar phase. In the month of August, there were two
full moons instead of the usual one. The second, showing itself on the
31st, was the "blue" one.
Although though it's not actually blue-appearing just the same as any other full moon in the night sky-I
had to witness it. So, Parker and I drove up to the Griffith Observatory
at dusk. We watched the sun set over downtown, and then admired the
moon in the black of night, atop the glow of the city lights.
